IEC 62443-2-1
IEC 62443-2-1 defining security program requirements for industrial automation and control system asset owners.
IEC 62443-2-1:2024 is part of the IEC 62443 series on the security of industrial automation and control systems (IACS). Published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), it defines the requirements for a security program that asset owners must establish and maintain to protect their operational technology environments. The 2024 edition is a substantial revision of the original 2010 document, restructuring the requirements around a set of security program elements.
The standard addresses policies, organisational responsibilities, risk management and operational practices for running and improving a cybersecurity program over the lifecycle of an IACS. It complements other parts of the series, which cover product suppliers, service providers, system design and technical component requirements, so that asset owners, integrators and vendors share a consistent framework.
